Subaru June Sales Up 3% Over Last Year - Subaru Forester Model Line Hits All-Time Sales Record -

CHERRY HILL, N.J., July 1 -- Subaru of America, Inc., the only car company that offers symmetrical all-wheel drive as standard equipment on every vehicle in its product line, reported June sales of 16,151 units. The total represents a 3 percent increase from June 2002. The Forester model line also posted a significant increase reaching an all-time high.

"We are very pleased with our June sales results that mark the fifth consecutive month of sales increases over last year," said Fred Adcock, Subaru Executive Vice President. "It was also a tremendous month for Forester as it not only reached an all-time high sales record, but also earned the distinction of being named the `best small SUV' the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has ever tested, as a result of the most recent series of side impact crash tests. As you can see from our numbers, demand for Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive vehicles remains strong, and we anticipate this momentum to continue."

The Subaru Forester recorded an all-time record of 5,638 units, a 9 percent increase from June 2002. The Legacy model line achieved a sales total of 6,809 units, while the Subaru Outback recorded sales of 4,727 units for the month. The Impreza line recorded sales of 2,883 units for June, and the Baja model posted 821 units for the month.
