June 2003 Best Bargains Tempt Buyers with Major Savings on Soon-to-Be-Redesigned or Discontinued Models

LOS ANGELES--June 17, 2003--CarsDirect.com, the leading multi-brand online car buying service, today announced its June 2003 Best Bargains selections. New car buyers can save thousands of dollars on models that are scheduled for 2004 makeovers and those that will soon be retired.
A number of existing models are being retired earlier than usual this year because all-new or re-designed 2004 models are already arriving at dealer showrooms. To make room for the new arrivals, automakers are offering significant rebates and incentives to move those 2003 models off dealer lots now.
Some automaker efforts to clear inventories have been so successful that a number of models are already hard to find. The 2003 versions of the Lexus RX300, Nissan Maxima, and Toyota Sienna are nearly sold out.
"By summer's end, remaining inventories of vehicles scheduled for 2004 makeovers will be so low that most or all of these great bargains will be hard to find," said Joe Cashen, director of pricing strategy for CarsDirect.com. "Even about-to-be-retired models without a consumer rebate are getting more affordable every day. We're now seeing end-of-model-year deals on vehicles like the BMW 5-series, the Jaguar XJ sedan and the Saab 9-3 convertible."
Each month, CarsDirect.com's team of pricing experts qualifies Best Bargain vehicles from a list of over 120,000 price configurations. Best Bargain choices include popular new cars, trucks and sport utility vehicles that currently offer the most attractive combination of national and regional manufacturer rebates and incentives, those that offer a historic low price point, or vehicles with prices that include other special programs.
