ZAP CEO Announces Incentives for Used Auto Dealers Who Offer EVs June 13 At Industry Expo in Las Vegas

SANTA ROSA, Calif., June 13 -- Used car dealers across the country can attain 'New Car Dealer' status by offering advanced transportation, according to industry pioneer ZAP (BULLETIN BOARD: ZAPZ) .

During a press conference today at the National Independent Auto Dealer Association (www.niada.com) annual meeting, ZAP Chief Executive Officer Steven Schneider is announcing a program to establish a nationwide auto distribution network for ZAP's line of advanced technology vehicles. A 20-year veteran in the used car business, Schneider says he has been studying a number of ways of becoming a 'New Car Dealer.'

"I think the next level for every Used Car Dealer is to become a New Car Dealer. Many believe that to become a New Car Dealer you need to be very wealthy, very lucky, or know people in high places," says Schneider. "But now, by offering advanced transportation and electric vehicles, Used Car Dealers can receive a variety of benefits associated to new car dealers."

Schneider says he has been researching electric vehicles (EVs) for more than five years to establish a distribution network that would assist in putting more in the hands of consumers. Through his distribution company, Voltage Vehicles (VV), he has signed exclusive automotive distribution contracts with EV manufacturers around the world. Under these contracts, VV has the ability to issue a New Car Dealer license.

"I tested the concept with my own dealership and it made an immediate impact. Not only did I have some of the coolest contraptions on wheels, people saw me, formerly a Used Car Dealer, as a leader for the environment. I increased my walk-in traffic, improved financing terms for my customers and my dealership, and increased my sales. This is an unbelievable opportunity for independent auto dealers to become cornerstones for the automotive distribution network of the future."

Last year, Schneider took the helm as CEO of publicly owned ZAP, and even merged VV and his auto dealership into ZAP as wholly owned subsidiaries to accelerate the business model. In 2002, Schneider helped sign on such new products as the SEA-DOO(R) SEASCOOTER(TM), the VIENTO(R) motorbike and the ZAP L.U.V. car. He says that ZAP dealers will have access to some of the best EVs in the world as well as new technology as it becomes available. During the conference, Schneider gave dealers a sneak-peek at a new lithium-based battery technology configured into a portable 10-hour power supply for laptops. He said this battery is now available to ZAP dealers and is working to make an automotive version to incorporate in ZAP's EVs.
