Isuzu Japan Recalls SUVs

TOKYO June 13, 2003; Dow Jones eported that Isuzu Motors Ltd. said today it is recalling a combined 64,000 units of its sport-utility vehicles for free repairs to their defective body frames, the Kyodo news service reported. Subject to the recall are 50,743 Big Horns manufactured between July 1993 and May 1996, 10,011 MUs made between July 1993 and May 1996, 2,027 Horizons made between January 1994 and May 1996, and 1,495 JAZZ vehicles made between October 1993 and May 1996, Kyodo reported.

Horizon and JAZZ vehicles are sold by Honda Motor Co. .

In a report submitted to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Isuzu said the body frames of these vehicles may be cracked as they were inappropriately welded, Kyodo reported
