Richard Petty Asks, ``Have You Got What It Takes To Work On `The King's' Racing Team?''

    GREENSBORO, N.C.--April 17, 2003--

Richard Petty Sites National Car Care Month as a time to practice All 3 Every 3; Conducts Nationwide Search for "Honorary Pit Crew Member"
    for Petty Enterprises

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work in the "pits" during a Stock Car race? Richard Petty wants you to find out. Petty is using National Car Care month to drive car enthusiasts from all over the country to enter his nationwide search for the "All 3 Every 3 Mechanic of the Year." One grand prize winner will actually get to work in the pits as an honorary pit crew member at a race later this season for one of Petty's racing teams.
Petty, who has been leading a car care crusade for the last two years through his work with the All 3 Every 3 Engine Maintenance Program (A3E3), is now asking Americans to tell him what makes them the "All 3 Every 3 Mechanic of the Year." Rules are available, and participants can enter the contest online at www.all3every3.com, or by mail by writing to A3E3 Mechanic Contest, P.O. Box 4320, Manhasset, NY 11030-4320. Entries must be no longer than 200 words in length, be postmarked by August 1, 2003 and received by August 8, 2003.
"Since April is National Car Care Month, this is a great time for people to show us how and why they value car maintenance and specifically the All 3 Every 3 Program," said Richard Petty. Through the All 3 Every 3 Program, Petty encourages motorists to: Change their Oil, Clean their Fuel System and Check their Belts, Hoses and Fluids every 3,000 miles. "I want to know how All 3 Every 3 has positively affected people's lives and the way they treat their cars. After all, a car is probably the second largest investment in most people's lives, and practicing All 3 Every 3 can help that investment last longer."
The contest kicked off on March 3, 2003 (03/03/03) and concludes on August 1, 2003 with one grand prize winner and three first prize winners, one from each of the categories listed below:

-- Certified Mechanics: Mechanics who currently work in the industry or are seeking an opportunity within the industry (entrants are required to provide proof of ASE certification).
-- Amateur Mechanics: Anyone in the country who likes to work on their car in their spare time or as a hobby.
-- Student Mechanics: Those currently enrolled in a community college, vocational or specialty school, studying to be a mechanic.

The Grand Prize winner will win airfare, hotel and ground transportation for two (2) to a Stock Car race, two (2) pit passes and be named "honorary" pit crew member for a Petty racing team, at an official race later this season. Three First Prize winners, one from each of the categories listed above, will win two (2) pit passes to a race of their choice (must redeem within 12 months of notification). Winners will be notified on or around August 22, 2003.
The contest allows Petty, who has led the All 3 Every 3 Program since its creation three years ago, to reach an even greater audience with the engine maintenance message. "If people can take just a little time every 3,000 miles to change their oil, clean their fuel system and check their belts, hoses and fluids, then everyone's cars will be in much better condition and they will save money and be safer in the long run," said Petty. Last year, Petty joined forces with the Car Care Council to promote car maintenance. This year, the Car Care Council has expanded their efforts to help consumers take better care of their cars with their new "Be Car Care Aware" campaign.
