iEQUUS Performance Gauge Line Debuts At SEMA IAS

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif.--March 27, 2003--Equus Products Inc., a leading automotive aftermarket manufacturer, debuts its iEQUUS Performance(TM) Gauges and Tachometers during the SEMA International Auto Salon (IAS), April 25-27, 2003, at the Los Angeles Convention Center (booth #2312).
Some of the features that make this line unique are its accuracy, easy installation, wide coverage for conventional and distributorless (DIS) ignition systems, and affordability. The suggested retail price ranges from $25 to $175.
The iEQUUS Performance(TM) line includes the following selection of gauges and matching tachometers, with additional SKUs planned for availability later this year:

-- #8100 1-1/2-inch Triple Gauge Kit (Oil, Volt and Water
    Temperature)
-- #8200 2-inch Triple Gauge Kit (Oil, Volt and Water Temperature)
-- #8242 2-inch Water Temperature Gauge
-- #8244 2-inch Oil Pressure Gauge
-- #8268 2-inch Voltmeter
-- #8453 2-5/8-inch Water Temperature Gauge
-- #8454 2-5/8-inch Oil Pressure Gauge
-- #8454 2-5/8-inch Voltmeter
-- #8068 3-3/8-inch Tachometer
-- #8080 5-inch Shift Light Tachometer

Each lightweight gauge is constructed with aluminum bezel, high-impact resistant lens and housing, vibrant orange pointer and white dial face for increased visibility, and bright Back-Lit(TM) illumination.
The instruments also feature high-quality solid brass Bourdon Tube meter or shielded OEM-type Electric Aircore movement for accuracy, performance and durability. Each package includes adapters for basic installation plus instructions in English, French and Spanish. And, a staff of ASE certified technicians is available via an 800 number and online for technical support.
"The majority of vehicles on the road today, including many that are popular with late model performance enthusiasts, are equipped with a DIS (distributorless) ignition system," said Keith Andreasen, ASE Master Technician and Equus project manager.
"However, most aftermarket tachometers, regardless of price, are not designed to work on these DIS vehicles. Or if they are, the installation is cumbersome and costly, and requires purchasing an adapter kit and tapping into the engine's electronic system. In response, Equus Products has applied years of ignition system expertise to develop a simple, safe and cost effective installation solution."
The iEQUUS Performance(TM) tachometers easily install on most domestic, European and Asian imports with a choice of inductive pickup or hardwire installation. The inductive pickup installation works on DIS ignition systems by simply placing the inductive pickup clamp around a spark plug wire and mounting the gauge. For conventional ignition systems, the hardwire option lets you connect the tach directly to the signal source, such as the negative side of an ignition coil. The line is highlighted by the #8080 5-inch Shift Light Tach. It features a 270-degree full sweep white dial face, programmable shift light, switchable colors, recall function and Omega shock-mount bracket for on-dash or A-pillar mount installations.
