The Portland Rod & Custom Show Ready to Roll Into the Rose City

    PORTLAND, Ore.--Feb. 5, 2003--

Two Generations of Car Enthusiasts Share Passion for Driving; Come Together to Display the Best Rods & Imports in NW

    The Portland Rod & Custom Show, the most recognized specialty and custom car exposition in the Northwest, will bring the latest custom and classic vehicles to hot rod enthusiasts, February 14 - 16, 2003, at the Portland Expo Center. More than 200 of the nation's top hot rods, custom cars and motorcycles, classics and competition machines will be on display. The show is presented by Baxter Auto Parts and Tire Factory.
    Headliners at this year's show include the 1967 Pontiac GTO highly modified muscle car used in the blockbuster movie "XXX," starring Vin Diesel; and debuting in Portland, The Blastolene Special, the 22-foot, twice-scale hot rod roadster built by Oregonian Randy Grubb. And on Saturday and Sunday, don't miss Spider-Man(R).
    The show will feature the IMPORTMotion show -- a Saturday-only event showcasing more than 150 of the Northwest's hottest modified import cars and custom sport compacts. Now a $2.5 billion industry (SEMA), these imports feature super tuned engines on nitrous, chrome undercarriages, cool conversions and wild interiors full of audio and video electronics. Also featured will be the green Mitsubishi Eclipse from the hit movie "The Fast and the Furious."
    A number of prestigious prizes play an integral part throughout the three-day show, including the Gold and Silver Crown Awards, and the John d'Agostino Custom d'Elegance Award.
    Show hours: Friday, February 14, 12:00 noon to 10:00 p.m.; Saturday, February 15, 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and Sunday, February 16, 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Trophy Presentation on Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
