Audi Sponsors the 2003 IFP Independent Spirit Awards
Industry elite gather March 22, 2003, to honor achievements of independent filmmakers SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 31 -- Audi of America, Inc. is proud to be a principal sponsor of the 2003 IFP Independent Spirit Awards for the second consecutive year. The awards ceremony is held annually on the Saturday before the Oscars, in a relaxed atmosphere at the beach in Santa Monica, California. Over 1,500 guests and members of the international press will gather at this year's awards on March 22, 2003. Director John Waters will return as Master of Ceremonies for the third straight year. The ceremony will premiere live on the Independent Film Channel (IFC) at 5:00 p.m. ET and re-broadcast later that evening on Bravo at 10:00 p.m. ET. Audi will be tagged on Bravo's tune-in spots for the Awards Show in addition to receiving commercial slots during the March 22 ceremony broadcast. This significant media exposure has helped to promote the art of independent filmmaking to a much wider audience. This year's nominees for Best Feature are "The Good Girl," "Far From Heaven," "Lovely & Amazing," "Secretary," and "Tully." Best First Feature nominees are "The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys," "Interview with the Assassin," "Manito," "Paid In Full," and "Roger Dodger." Prominent contenders for the acting awards include Jennifer Aniston, Catherine Keener, Julianne Moore, Alan Arkin, Ray Liotta, John C. Reilly and Dennis Quaid. The nominated films will screen in New York and Los Angeles from late January through early March. Winners of the Independent Spirit Awards are decided by vote from the IFP national membership, a nationwide base of 9,000 filmmakers.
