BorgWarner Supplies Five of Ward's '10 Best Engines 2003'

CHICAGO, Jan. 30 -- Five of the "10 Best Engines
2003" selected by Ward's Auto World -- the Volkswagen 1.8L turbocharged DOHC
I-4, the Honda 2L DOHC I-4, the Ford 6L Power Stroke OHV V-8 Turbo Diesel, the
Nissan 3.5L DOHC V-6, and the DaimlerChrysler 5.7L Hemi Magnum OHV V-8 -- are
equipped with systems and components from the BorgWarner Engine Group.
"Since its inception in 1995, Ward's 10 Best Engines has evolved into an
influential gauge of powertrain engineering and development prowess," said
Bill Visnic, Ward's Auto World senior technical editor. "Most of this year's
winners power some of the market's best-performing vehicles -- on the road and
on the sales charts." Nominations for the award are limited to engines that
are available in a regular-production vehicle available for sale in the
current calendar or model year, and are fitted in a passenger vehicle with a
total base price of no more than $52,500.
BorgWarner supplies engine timing system components to the Honda 2L DOHC
I-4, the Nissan 3.5L DOHC V-6, and the DaimlerChrysler 5.7L Hemi Magnum OHV
V-8. The latter also has a BorgWarner fan drive. A BorgWarner turbocharger,
fan, fan clutch and viscous fan drive are on the VW 1.8L turbocharged DOHC
I-4. The Ford 6L Power Stroke OHV V-8 Turbo Diesel has a BorgWarner
crankshaft damper and cooling fan, as well as a Visctronic(TM) electronically
controlled fan drive and exit guide vane on Super Duty applications.
"Half of this year's winning engines include systems and components that
are supplied by BorgWarner, and we congratulate five of our valued customers
-- Honda, Volkswagen, Ford, Nissan, and DaimlerChrysler," said Tim Manganello,
BorgWarner President and COO. "We're proud of this most recent testament to
BorgWarner's growing presence on the engine side of the business and to our
geographically diverse customer base."
