Mazda To Recall Demio For Fuel Pump,Coolant Pipe Problems

TOKYO -November 12, 2002; Dow Jones is reporting that Mazda Motor Corp. said Tuesday it will recall all of its new Demio compact cars produced from June through October to fix problems with the fuel tank and coolant pipe.

Mazda said it manufactured 26,212 units of the Demio in the period. The model was officially introduced in August.

The company said a nut between the fuel pump and the fuel tank may not have been fastened properly, possibly causing gasoline to leak.

A similar problem was found on the coolant pipe link to a heater unit, the company said.
