SEMA BUSINESSWOMEN'S NETWORK HONORS MARJORIE BROWN WITH THE FIRST-EVER WOMAN OF THE YEAR AWARD

LAS VEGAS (Nov. 6, 2002) - Marjorie Brown, who is retired from Holley Performance Products, was honored with the first-ever SEMA Businesswomen's Network (SBN) Woman of the Year Award. The award was presented this morning during the SEMA Businesswomen's Network Breakfast at the Las Vegas Hilton, adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center, where SEMA Show 2002 is in full swing.

Jim Wiggins, president of Holley, presented the award to Brown for her contributions to the industry, her dedication and loyalty, her "buck stops here" attitude and her excellence in customer service.

Brown began her career at Holley in 1961, when the firm was called Bowling Green Manufacturing Co. Over the years, she moved up through the company from material expediter and general office clerk to administrative services supervisor, manager of personnel and manager of the customer service department. Ms. Brown received the company's President's Award twice during her tenure at Holley, a rare honor for any employee.

"Women like Ms. Brown have helped to open doors in the automotive industry for all women," said Zan Martin, chairperson of SBN. "Marjorie remains an inspiration to all women in the industry, and it is our distinct pleasure to bestow her with this first-ever Woman of the Year Award."

Brown brought a just-do-it attitude to her assignments. Her philosophy was: "There was a job to be done, and everybody was sure that somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but nobody did it. Somebody got angry because it was everybody's job. Everybody thought anybody could do it, and nobody realized that everybody wouldn't do it. It ended up that everybody blamed somebody, and nobody did what anybody could have done. Think about it."

The SEMA Businesswomen's Network will select a Woman of the Year each year based on the length of time she has been in the specialty automotive industry, the perception of her as a role model (including her depth of knowledge/expertise, leadership and management roles), her industry involvement (including serving on SEMA committees and councils and other trade memberships) and her continual professional education. To be eligible for the award, a woman must work for a SEMA-member company.
