General Motors Salutes The Latino Entrepreneurial Spirit At The 23rd Annual United States Hispanic Chamber Of Commerce Convention And Expo

Los Angeles -- General Motors, the world's largest vehicle manufacturer, today announced a series of media activities that will take place during the 23rd Annual United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce National Convention and Business Expo taking place in Los Angeles, October 16-19. General Motors is a Diamond-level sponsor of this year's convention.

"With over 1 million Hispanic-owned businesses nationwide, and with almost a quarter of them in Los Angeles, the economic advancement of the Hispanic community is making the 'American Dream' a reality for all Latinos," commented Gary Cowger, president of GM North America. "General Motors is honored to be a supporter of the USHCC's 23rd national convention and business expo, and of the Latino entrepreneurial spirit."

Los Angeles Mayor Jim Hahn has proclaimed October 12-19, 2002, "Latino Business Week" to salute the USHCC convention, which brings Hispanic business and community leaders together to discuss some of the issues affecting the nation's 1.2 million Hispanic-owned businesses.

Using the USHCC convention as a backdrop, General Motors has organized a series of media events to communicate the company's overall commitment to the Hispanic community in the areas of products and services, education, and economic empowerment. The events, open to members of the media, include:
