DaimlerChrysler To Transfer Production of Econic

FRANKFURT -October 14, 2002, Dow Jones reported that DaimlerChrysler AG said Monday that production of Mercedes-Benz's Econic truck will be transferred from NAW Nutzfahrzeuge AG, in Arbon, eastern Switzerland to other parts of DaimlerChrysler.

NAW Nutzfahrzeuge AG is 49% owned by DaimlerChrysler and 51% owned by Sachsenring Automobiltechnik AG .

DaimlerChrysler has had to look for alternative production sites for the bus following the insolvency of Germany-based Sachsenring.

DaimlerChrysler's buses and coaches unit EvoBus will take over production of frames for airport runway buses and EvoBus Schweiz will take over production of spare parts for Swiss trolley buses, DaimlerChrysler said in a release.

The earnings projections for the utility vehicles division of DaimlerChrysler won't suffer as a result, the company said.
