Daimler Sees Commercial Vehicles Market Share Stable

Tuesday 5:34 am ET

HANOVER, Germany -September 10,2002 - Dow Jones reported that DaimlerChrysler AG management board member for commercial vehicles, Eckard Cordes, Tuesday said the western European commercial vehicles market isn't likely to recover until the second half of 2003 at the earliest.

"It depends on when Germany recovers," Cordes said in an interview on the sidelines of an international commercial vehicles trade fair.

Cordes said the economic outlook is still uncertain, and general economic recovery is the key precondition for a rebound in the commercial vehicles sector.

Cordes also said he expects the commercial vehicles division's market share to remain stable at current levels for the rest of 2002 and in 2003. The division's current market share in western Europe stands around 21% or 22%, he said.

DaimlerChrysler is the world's biggest commercial vehicles maker.
