Saturn Teams With Delphi to Deliver DVD Entertainment To Passenger Car Customers

Rear-Seat Entertainment Not Just for Minivans And Sport Utility Vehicles Anymore

TROY, Mich., Aug. 29 -- Delphi Corp. has teamed with Saturn Corporation to deliver the latest in rear-seat entertainment to consumers. The Delphi Communiport® rear-seat entertainment package that is available on the 2002 model year Saturn L-Series sedans and wagons brings a different option to customers who want the convenience of a smaller vehicle and the luxury of a fully integrated rear-seat entertainment system.

According to Delphi, the option makes Saturn one of the first vehicle manufacturers to offer a factory-installed rear-seat DVD system on a passenger car.

"Young people get bored and restless while traveling, but with Delphi's entertainment electronics there are plenty of activities to keep kids occupied and happy," said Bob Schumacher, business line executive for Delphi's wireless business line. "And, parents not only get a quiet, distraction-free journey, they also have the bonus of a completely integrated, compact system that won't take up a lot of room in the rear passenger compartment."

Delphi's rear-seat entertainment electronics features DVD playback with a front console-mounted player, CD playback with a six-disc CD changer, dual wireless headphones and audio/video inputs for any standard video game, camcorder, VCR or other auxiliary electronic devices.

The seven-inch liquid crystal display (LCD) color monitor, with a crisp picture, is flush-mounted with the headliner and flips down for use. It is controlled using an infrared remote.

Delphi also offers consumer versions of its rear-seat entertainment systems that can be retrofitted to mount in the headliner.
