Cummins Inc. Welcomes Susan Hanafee as Executive Director of Public Relations

    COLUMBUS, Ind.--Aug. 12, 2002--Today Cummins Inc. announced that Susan Hanafee has joined Cummins as Executive Director of Public Relations. Susan will lead the Company's communication efforts with the media, as well as all internal communication services.

    Susan brings a great deal of expertise and experience to the public relations role. She joins Cummins after serving in a variety of corporate affairs positions of increasing responsibility at Indianapolis Power and Light Company (IPALCO). Susan joined IPALCO in 1993 and progressively rose to her most recent position as Vice President of Corporate Affairs.
    Susan has been in the communications sector for many years. Prior to joining IPALCO, she was a reporter for the Indianapolis Star for over 25 years. Susan's numerous awards for journalism and community involvement highlight her leadership and communication skills. Her expertise will benefit Cummins communication efforts with the external media and will strengthen Cummins internal communication tools and services.
    Hanafee graduated from Indiana University with a BA in Journalism. Married with three children, Susan and her husband, Jack, reside in Indianapolis, Indiana.
