AAA Fights Joins Senator Paul Wellstone, D-MN, in Support of
Right to Repair Legislation
WHAT: Media availability and On-Board Diagnostic Live Demonstration
S. 2617, the Motor Vehicle Owner's Right to Repair Act, would
protect the car owner's right to determine who can read
diagnostic and repair data generated by their personal
automobile when choosing an automotive service facility.
American and import auto manufacturers are currently
restricting access to much of this information -- including
data from critical safety components -- to new car
dealerships. The Senate Commerce Subcommittee on Consumer
Affairs will hold a hearing on the bill at 2:30 p.m.,
Tuesday, July 30th, Russell Building 253.
