BMW Japan Recalls 1135 MINI One, Cooper Cars

Tokyo Kyodo News reported that BMW Japan Corp. is recalling 1,135 MINI One and Cooper passenger cars made from November 2001 to May 2002 due to defective manual gearshifts and tires, according to a report it filed with the government Thursday.

The report to the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Ministry said there is a problem with components of a cable connecting the transmissions and the gearshift lever that may make the cars inoperable.

Kyodo also reported that there is a problem with tires that may have scratches and can leak air German automaker BMW AG said.
