DaimlerChrysler Canada reports June sales increase
WINDSOR, ON, July 3 /CNW/ - DaimlerChrysler Canada today reported June deliveries of 26,037 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles - an increase of 9.1 per cent over the 23,868 vehicles sold in the same month last year.June deliveries of 19,152 trucks were 18.6 per cent higher than the 16,145 sold in the same month one year earlier. June sales of 9,983 Dodge Caravans - - still the top-selling vehicle in Canada - - were 11.8 per cent higher than the 9,042 sold in the corresponding month last year, while total Jeep and Sport Utility sales each set records.
Year-to-date deliveries of 100,148 trucks set a new first-half record eclipsing the prior record of 98,810 set in 2000 and were 12.7 per cent higher than the 88,845 trucks sold in the first six months of 2001.
"DaimlerChrysler Canada's second-quarter truck deliveries also set a new any-quarter record". Pat Dougherty, Vice President - Sales and Service, said. "April-through-June sales of 55,610 trucks were 14.2 per cent higher than the 48,677 sold in the second quarter of 2001 and surpassed the previous any- quarter record 55,100 trucks sold in the second quarter of 2000. Our Sport Utility and Jeep vehicle sales set records for the quarter as did Jeep TJ. June was also the seventh month in the last eight in which DaimlerChrysler Canada's vehicle sales exceeded those for the previous year", Mr. Dougherty said.
