Acura Sales in June- Down 1%
TORRANCE, Calif., July 2 -- Strong demand for the MDX luxury SUV and the RSX sports coupe drove June Acura sales to 15,043, up 1.0 percent compared to last year, according to sales figures released today by American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
"These two vehicles have struck a chord with consumers," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of automotive sales. "In addition to connecting with existing Acura customers, they are bringing in large numbers of new buyers who have never owned an Acura but who are attracted to the styling and performance of these increasingly popular models."
MDX sales have set new monthly records for each of the first six months of 2002. June MDX sales of 4,720 were up 48.5 percent compared to June of 2001. Year-to-date MDX sales grew to 26,710, a 24.9 percent increase over last year. The all-new RSX continued to sell well with a June total of 2,955 pushing year-to-date sales to 16,150. Sales of the TL luxury performance sedan totaled 5,552 pushing the year-to-date total to 32,072.
Acura year-to-date sales grew to 86,415, up 2.4 percent compared to last
year.
