UPS Among Fortune's Top 25 'Best Companies for Minorities'

ATLANTA--June 24, 2002--UPS again has been named to Fortune magazine's list of the "50 Best Companies for Minorities," rounding out the top 25 companies in this year's list.
This marks the fourth consecutive year UPS has been included in the survey, which annually ranks corporations on their commitment to hiring, promoting and retaining a diverse pool of talented employees. UPS increased its ranking to #25 from last year's ranking of #26.
Minorities comprised 52 percent of UPS new hires in 2001 and represent more than one-third of the company's U.S. workforce of 330,000. In addition, nearly 28 percent of UPS managers are minorities, including representation on the UPS Management Committee and the company's Board of Directors.
In addition to the Fortune ranking, UPS recently has been recognized for its efforts in supplier diversity, community involvement and corporate citizenship.
Earlier this year, UPS was honored by both Hispanic magazine and the Women Business Enterprise National Council for its efforts to provide partnership and economic opportunities for minority and women business owners.
This year the company also received the NAACP's coveted Corporate Citizen of the Year Award for its commitment to help build strong communities nationwide, and United Way of America's Spirit of America Award(R), the highest national honor for corporate involvement given by United Way.
United Parcel Service, the world's largest express carrier and package delivery company, is headquartered in Atlanta, Ga. The company can be found on the Web at http://www.ups.com.
