Mazda Sales Up With Strong Postings in May

IRVINE, Calif., June 3 -- Led by the impressive sales of its stylish Tribute sport utility vehicle and its Protege compact sedan, Mazda today reported a sales volume of more than 25,000 units in May -- the company's best May since 1996. May sales totaled 25,035 vehicles, a 0.7 percent increase in sales versus the same month last year, and was led by the Tribute, which posted a 34.9 percent sales increase. The Protege line boasted a 28.2 percent jump to help fuel the charge.

For the Mazda Tribute, May was its best sales month since January of 2001, while the Protege also enjoyed its best sales performance since October of last year.

Mazda North American Operations is responsible for the sales and marketing, customer parts and services support of Mazda vehicles in the United States. Headquartered in Irvine, Calif., MNAO has more than 700 dealerships nationwide.
