NY Auto Show Preview

DETROIT, March 25 -- There's big news from the Big Apple this week as the city that never sleeps opens the doors for its annual auto show. And TheCarConnection.com will be there all week, starting with a preview of the most interesting and important vehicles taking a bow.

Turn to TCC for the first look at the all-new Lincoln Aviator SUV, as well as the sleek Saturn Ion. Show cars abound, including the mid-engined Acura DN-X and Nissan's ``urban SUV,'' the Murano crossover. Mercedes-Benz has two new debuts, including the redesigned CLK coupe and the American debut of the all-new E-Class.

You'll find continuing coverage of the NY Auto Show all week, so come back to TheCarConnection for all the updates.

On Wednesday, TCC will off the first ride-and-drive of the long-awaited PT Turbo. Will this high-performance Cruiser set sales on fire all over again? You be the judge.

The Trident returns! It's been a decade since Maserati abandoned American shores. But now it's back and TheCarConnection puts the pedal to the metal in an exclusive test drive of the all-new Maserati Coupe. You'll find it in today's edition, along with reviews of the rugged Lexus LX470 sport-ute and Nissan's slick new G35 sedan.

James Bond's most recent roadster is getting bigger, moving up a notch in price, and may get a name change. TCC's spies offer a look at the next- generation BMW Z3.

In business news, it's the old good news-bad news syndrome. General Motors' stock is in high gear with analysts betting the long-troubled automaker has finally gotten things turned around. At DaimlerChrysler, though, the courts have handed down some troubling decisions that could leave the automaker vulnerable to hefty shareholder lawsuits.

Has Honda won the green war? See why the Japanese automaker can claim the environmental crown with an assortment of Earth-friendly vehicles.

Can Firestone make a comeback? TCC has the inside story on the effort to revive the troubled brand.

And if you wonder what it'll take to bring back the once-great Buick nameplate, TCC's curmudgeon-at-large, Jerry Flint, has his own distinct idea.
