Kmart to Host NASCAR Activities Prior to Daytona 500

Daytona, FL (February 8, 2002) - Kmart Corporation has an
exciting, fan-friendly calendar of events scheduled at the Daytona Beach
Kmart store, located at 1300 International Speedway Blvd, the week leading
into NASCAR's Daytona 500.

Kmart is joining forces with Pepsi-Cola, Mountain Dew, Tide, M&M's,
Kellogg's, Frito-Lay and Kodak to feature NASCAR's finest, including Kmart
Racing drivers Joe Nemechek and Todd Bodine, along with Jeremy Mayfield,
Kurt Busch, Kyle Petty, Mike Skinner and 2001 NASCAR Winston Cup Champion
Jeff Gordon.  

Ford will feature a Pit Crew Challenge that will be hosted in the Kmart
parking lot during the week.  M & M's and Kellogg's will offer exciting
racing simulators, and Pepsi will be featuring a Pepsi/Frito/Dew Crew Racing
Experience.

Jeremy Mayfield, driver of the No. 19 Dodge Dealers Intrepid R/T, will be
signing autographs at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13th.  Joe Nemechek,
driver of the No. 26 Kmart School Spirit Ford, and Todd Bodine, driver of
the No. 66 Kmart Ford, will both be signing autographs at 7 p.m. the same
day.

Mike Skinner, driver of the #4 Kodak Chevrolet will sign autographs on
Thursday, February 14th at 4:30 p.m., and Kyle Petty arrives for an
autograph session on the same day at 5:30 pm.  NASCAR superstar Jeff Gordon
will visit the Kmart store for a public appearance at noon on Friday,
February 15th.  

The Daytona Beach Kmart is just a few blocks from the Daytona International
Speedway.  The exciting schedule of events as planned* for Kmart shoppers
