YAMAHA FX140 TOPS POPULAR SCIENCE READER'S CHOICE AWARDS

Revolutionary Watercraft Finishes First Runner-Up Out of 101 Products,
Only Competition is Spacecraft Orbiting the Sun

Kennesaw, GA— The Yamaha WaveRunner(R) FX140(TM), the world’s first
four-stroke personal watercraft, topped the list of the best recreational
products introduced in 2001, beating out the Harley-Davidson V-Rod
motorcycle in the recent Popular Science Reader’s Choice Awards.

The Yamaha FX140 finished first runner-up out of 101 “Best of What’s New”
award winners in such categories as automotive technology, aerospace &
aviation, and consumer electronics. Finishing first overall in the Reader’s
Choice survey was the MAP Spacecraft, which is now orbiting the sun on an
historic expedition of deep space.

“I guess this makes our WaveRunner the Popular Science Reader’s Choice Award
winner for earthbound products,” joked Yamaha WaterCraft Group president
Mark Speaks. “Still, topping the list above such names as Apple Computer,
Audi and Harley-Davidson is an accomplishment the entire watercraft industry
can be proud of.” As the editors of Popular Science noted, the FX140
delivers all of the things that people love about personal watercraft, and
none of the things they don’t.
