EGL Eagle Global Logistics Joins CTS Cooperative Partnership Alliance Program

ELKHART, Ind.--Dec. 17, 2001--CTS Corporation today announced that EGL, Inc. will join the CTS cooperative partnership Alliance. The partnership Alliance provides customers with high-technology interconnect systems utilizing the core competencies of all Alliance partners. Houston-based EGL, Inc. operates worldwide under the name EGL Eagle Global Logistics. EGL is a leading global transportation and supply chain management company dedicated to providing superior flexibility with fewer shipping restrictions, on a price competitive basis. CTS Interconnect Systems, headquartered in Glasgow, Scotland, designs and manufactures complex press-fit and surface mount backplanes, daughtercard assemblies and integrated interconnect systems.
CTS Interconnect Systems developed the Alliance in May 2001 as an alternative response to the growing market demand for tier-one Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) vendors to provide a total, global design and manufacturing solution. This group of independent best-in-class suppliers includes metalwork vendor Pentair Enclosures (Pentair, Inc.); technology printed circuit board (PCB) provider, PPC Electronic AG; and WUS Printed Circuit Co., Ltd., which manufactures high volume PCBs in Asia. Each member remains focused on its individual core competencies, but works together to service OEM customers with a fully integrated EMS solution, based on shared technology, sales, engineering and manufacturing resources. Since its launch, the Alliance has achieved considerable success illustrated by the award of several major programs.
EGL adds substantial value to the Alliance, differentiating the program from a standard supply chain partnership through focusing on the "glue" that holds customer and EMS provider relationships together -- the provision of a real-time logistics solution. Steve Morrison, managing director of EGL UK Ltd., stated, "The Alliance offers huge potential to each of the selected partners, and we are delighted to be part of this program. We see our expertise in supply chain management, particularly within the high-tech sector, as a key factor in the overall capability of the Alliance, and look forward to working with each of the partners in the future."
In a prepared statement, CTS Interconnect Systems' vice president and general manager, Ian Archer, stated, "EGL is a widely acclaimed world-class provider of logistics and freight transport services, with a global infrastructure in over 100 countries. The Company's experience and global scope bring an added dimension in the rapid fulfillment of product programs to OEM customers."
With year 2000 revenues exceeding $1.8 billion, EGL's services include air and ocean freight forwarding, customs brokerage, warehousing, trade facilitation and integrated logistics and supply chain management services. The Company's shares are traded on the NASDAQ National Market under the symbol "EAGL."
CTS Corporation is a leading designer and manufacturer of electronic components and assemblies for the communications, computer and automotive markets. The Company manufactures products in North America, Europe and Asia. The Company's stock is traded on the NYSE under the ticker symbol "CTS."
