Opel Germany Renews Emery Worldwide Logistics Contract

    REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--Aug. 20, 2001--Opel Germany has awarded Emery Worldwide, the heavyweight cargo transportation subsidiary of CNF Inc. , with a two-year logistics contract renewal to provide complete logistics and service parts transportation support at Emery's Hahn Logistics Center in Frankfurt, Germany, a contract dating back to 1996.
    Consolidating automotive parts from Opel's two major German source warehouses as well as from Tier One, Opel's parts supply vendor, Emery's global logistics unit will provide services including parts inspections, labeling to meet specific U.S. requirements, pre-packing of dealer-specific applications and transportation management. This includes ocean transportation, expedited air support of General Motors Service Parts Operation centers in the United States and emergency air shipments directly to North American automobile dealerships.
    Emery's Hahn Logistics Center is connected online to the Opel Germany information systems infrastructure, enabling the logistics center to receive and transmit shipment details, such as invoicing and packaging information. Strategically located near the Frankfurt Airport, the center has been in operation since 1996 in support of the German-built Opel Omega, an automobile model sold in North America under the brand name Cadillac Catera.
