ADVISORY/Stanley Cup Champion to Visit PPG Industry's Hawkesbury, Ontario, Canada, Glass Plant

    --July 23, 2001--

    Bob Hartley, coach of the Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche, will share the Stanley Cup with his former co-workers at PPG Industry's Hawkesbury, Ontario, Canada, automotive glass plant on Tuesday, July 31.
    Hartley, a Hawkesbury native, was a cutter on the plant's production line from 1983-1987. "I had a great job with the best company," Hartley said. "Bringing the Stanley Cup to the plant is my way of thanking PPG and the workers for four great years and for all their ongoing support. I wanted to make sure every employee there has a chance to touch the Cup."
    Hartley will be available for a media conference and brief photo session inside the plant before he addresses his former co-workers. Those wanting to enter plant for photos are asked to wear long pants, shirts with sleeves and covered shoes (no sandals or high heels). Appropriate safety equipment will be provided.

    The morning's agenda is extremely tight because the demands on the coach's time. A parade in honor of Hartley will begin at 2 p.m. in Hawkesbury.
