News Conference to Unveil New California Driver License

    --

California's brand new, super-secure, high-tech driver license -- designed to reduce fraud, identity theft, counterfeiting, and tampering - will be unveiled at a Tuesday noon news conference at the Culver City DMV field office. The first of the licenses will begin showing up in the mailboxes of Californians later this week.
California's Secretary of Business, Transportation & Housing, Maria Contreras-Sweet, and DMV Director Steve Gourley will be there to demonstrate the high-tech features of the new license. Features include a California "Bear Flag" that is visible only under "black light," ink that changes color when viewed from different angles, and ultra-fine lines similar to those used on new U.S. currency. All these new features are extremely difficult to copy, counterfeit, or tamper with. Good video.
B-roll BETA SP footage, color stills, and live action will be available at the news conference.
For out-of-town TV stations unable to attend the press conference, an un-narrated video news release containing natural sound footage & sound bites will be provided on a free satellite feed at 1:30 p.m. PDT on SBS 6, 5 full. Audio on 6.2 and 6.8. Downlink frequency is 11823 horizontal. For satellite information, call PACSAT in Sacramento at (916) 446-7890. A script will be faxed by PACSAT.
Electronic color stills will also available after the news conference from Business Wire or via e-mail file attachment from DMV in Sacramento at 916/657-6437.
