AAA Texas Offers Tipsy Tow for 4th of July Holiday

HOUSTON--June 29, 2001--AAA Texas is offering Tipsy Tow as a safe alternative to drinking and driving for the Fourth of July holiday.
The Tipsy Tow program is designed to provide holiday hosts, bartenders and motorists another option to get home safely if drivers have been drinking.
By dialing AAA's toll free number, 1-800-AAA-HELP, holiday revelers can have a tow truck dispatched to take them and their vehicle home at little or no cost, depending on the towing distance.
"Texas leads the nation in the number of people who die in alcohol related crashes," says Rose Rougeau, a spokesperson for AAA Texas. "For drivers who have been drinking and do not have a designated driver, we offer Tipsy Tow, as a responsible option."
Tipsy Tow gets underway at 6 PM, Tuesday, July 3rd and lasts until midnight July 4th . The first 10 miles are free to members and the general public, and up to two people can ride with the towed vehicle. To arrange a ride, call AAA Texas at 1-800-AAA-HELP. The service is available in Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, El Paso, Houston and San Antonio.
