Buick Rendezvous Helps Make Family's Wish Come True

FOR RELEASE: June 25, 2001

Buick Rendezvous Helps Make Family's Wish Come True

Detroit - The 2002 Buick Rendezvous is a crossover vehicle capable of addressing the multiple needs of today's active family. Christy McCloskey of Stamford, N.Y. embodies many of the same multi-tasking capabilities. She works as a dispatcher for Cooperstown Medical Transport, serves as a volunteer EMT, drives 100 miles a day, and cares for two children. During the recent "Week of Wishes" on CBS's "The Early Show", McCloskey was rewarded for her hard work and dedication with a new 2002 Buick Rendezvous.

McCloskey's fiancé, Harry Tompkins, wrote a letter to the show expressing his wish to get a new vehicle for her. The long commute has taken its toll on her old vehicle, which had logged well over 100,000 miles. For all the good she does for others, Tompkins believed she deserved something nice for herself. CBS and Buick agreed and Christy, Harry, and their two children were invited to New York City for the surprise.

After an on-air introduction, the family was led outside where Jack Bowen, Rendezvous brand manager, was waiting. "We've got the perfect car for you", said Bowen. "For all you do for everyone else, the Buick Motor Division and Buick dealers feel that you deserve something for yourself. The new 2002 Buick Rendezvous is the perfect vehicle for a multi-tasker like yourself." McCloskey was ecstatic as she climbed into the vehicle and began acquainting herself with its many features. "My family has always driven Buick's so I grew up knowing the great cars they make", McCloskey said. "Rendezvous is a perfect vehicle for my family. We can stow everything we need in the cargo area, and it will be excellent for my long commute to work".

McCloskey will take delivery of her Rendezvous in June from Whitaker & Son, Inc. Buick in Sidney, N.Y.. "We think it's great to be able to be a part of this promotion," said "Whit" Whitaker, owner of Whitaker & Son, Inc. Buick. "What a coincidence that we can celebrate our 90th anniversary with such a great new vehicle and a truly deserving individual".
