PPG Industries to Receive National Environmental Award

    The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will recognize PPG Industries with a Green Chemistry Challenge Award for its breakthrough discovery in lead-free anti-corrosion coatings for the automotive industry.
    EPA's awards -- five will be presented Monday evening at the National Academy of Sciences in Washington -- recognize outstanding accomplishments in research, development and implementation of technologies that reduce pollution. An independent panel selected by the American Chemical Society chooses recipients.
    Pittsburgh-area media are invited to meet with Gerald W. Gruber, vice president, science & technology, and David C. Cannon, vice president, environment, health & safety, to discuss this important PPG technology.
