Chrysler Group Recalls 2000 and 2001 Neons

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., May 25 The Chrysler Group will
voluntarily recall 2000 and 2001 Neons to replace a brake booster vacuum hose.
This issue does not affect any other Neon model years.

Over time, contact with oil may cause the vacuum hose to swell and loosen
from the intake manifold resulting in a loss of power brake assist and an
increased idle speed. The brakes remain operational, but the pedal pressure
required to stop the vehicle can increase. The Chrysler Group is taking this
action because company engineers discovered the issue through the analysis of
returned parts. Technicians will replace the hose with an oil resistant
version. Owners will be contacted by mail.

The recall affects a total of 515,000 vehicles. There are approximately
352,000 Dodge and Plymouth-badged Neons in the U.S., 61,700 Chrysler-badged
Neons in Canada, 60,500 Dodge-badged Neons in Mexico and 40,000 Chrysler-
badged Neons in export markets covered by this action.
