Hayes Lemmerz to Supply Aluminum Wheels for All-New 2002 Jeep(R) Liberty

    NORTHVILLE, Mich., May 7 Hayes Lemmerz International, Inc.
, recently announced that it has received a long-term commitment
from DaimlerChrysler Corporation to supply two aluminum wheels for the all-new
2002 Jeep(R) Liberty sport utility vehicle.

    The Company's manufacturing facility in Gainesville, Ga. recently began
shipping one of the wheels for the Liberty, utilizing Hayes Lemmerz' Full-Face
Cast (FFC(R)) Aluminum Wheel technology.  FFC(R) is a patented process used in
combining a spun aluminum rim with a cast aluminum center disc.  The
innovation provides an improved wheel assembly that offers high styling
flexibility afforded by casting with the higher strength to weight ratio of
the rim afforded by metal forming processes.

    The Company's Huntington, Ind. operations is supplying the second of the
two wheels and is utilizing single-piece casting technology.
