KleenAir Test Reduces London Taxi Particulate Emissions
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--April 10, 2001--NOxMaster Ltd., the UK affiliate of KleenAir Systems Inc., (OTCBB:KAIR) recently successfully completed testing of its Diesel Oxidizing Catalytic Converter (DOC) on a London taxi, model TX1, at the UK's Millbrook Proving Grounds.Average reductions of particulate emissions of 54% were indicated by the official Millbrook test results. Standard DOC's usually are expected to generate a reduction in particulate emissions of 25%. KleenAir's use of specially formulated catalytic oxidizing formulations combined with Selective Catalytic Reduction technology is believed to generate a higher level of particulate reduction.
Higher levels of reduction have only been achieved by using a Continuously Regenerating Trap (CRT) which is 5 to 7 times more expensive, making that technology suitable primarily for more expensive heavy-duty vehicles.
These tests were the first step in a comprehensive program funded by the UK Energy Savings Trust to evaluate technology that can significantly reduce emissions from London taxicabs. Follow-up tests in May will further evaluate KleenAir's NOxMaster(TM) NOx reduction system.
The objective of the program is to demonstrate the combined effect of both particulate and NOx reduction as a cost-effective retrofit for taxicabs. The same system is applicable to the general European passenger vehicle market. Over 30% of these vehicles are powered by diesel engines.
The next phase, would be the outfitting of a number of in-service taxicabs, to demonstrate the system's suitability in the actual working environment. These field trials would last approximately 4 months.
The Company is providing the UK Department of Energy and Transportation (DETR) with a risk assessment document that responds to a variety of issues raised by various departments of government. This documents underlines the in-use safety features of the NOxMaster(TM) system.
