Old bikes welcome at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days West Bike Show

PICKERINGTON, Ohio -- If you've got a cool old motorcycle, you might also have a bike show winner. To find out, bring your 1991 or older motorcycle to the fifth annual Motorcycle Hall of Fame Bike Show at the American Motorcyclist Association's Vintage Motorcycle Days West, at Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma,Calif.

Trophies in more than 40 classes will be up for grabs at the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Bike Show, which will be held on Sunday, April 29, during AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, which runs April 27-29. The competition is open to all brands of motorcycles manufactured from 1898 to 1991.

"This is a fun show for participants and spectators alike" says Mark Mederski, Motorcycle Hall of Fame executive director and show chairman. "The judging will be relaxed, but thorough, and we offer the added bonus of the

Grand Marshals' Choice Trophy, which will be chosen by Co-Grand Marshals Bobby Hill and Bill Tuman." Hill and Tuman are both former AMA Grand National Champions.

Bike Show entrants get the added perk of preferred motorcycle parking in the paddock. The entry fee for the show is $5 per motorcycle, with your admission ticket. Proceeds benefit the Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum.

Of course, AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days offers much more than the bike show. The Cycle World Rolling Concours, a 55-mile ride, followed by judging by the Cycle World staff, starts Saturday morning. Vintage motorcycle road racing, motocross, cross-country, observed trials and dirt-track events run Friday through Sunday, with the dirt-track Saturday night at the nearby Solano County

Fairgrounds.

Seminars on everything from biker movies to proper suspension setup, extreme trials exhibitions by former World Champ Tommi Ahvala, a huge swap meet, new model demo rides, a vendor midway and much more fill out the weekend.

The event kicks off the weeklong Sonomafest celebration that concludes with the May 4-6 Chevy Trucks U.S. Superbike Championship round at Sears Point.
