Subaru Impreza WRX and the SCCA, A Winning Combination

     2002 Subaru Impreza WRX Owners Receive Free Year of SCCA Membership

    CHERRY HILL, N.J., Feb. 28 Subaru of America, Inc. (SOA),
a pioneer of crossover vehicles designed for the active lifestyle, announced
today a strategic partnership with the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).  As
part of this unique partnership, owners of the high-performance 2002 Subaru
Impreza WRX models will receive a complimentary membership to the SCCA, the
leading sanctioning body for professional and amateur road racing, rally and
autocross events in the United States.  The partnership also designates Subaru
as an "Official Supporter of the SCCA."

    In addition to the free membership, 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX owners will
receive a special WRX/ SCCA decal to promote their membership and twelve
issues of SportsCar magazine, the official publication of the SCCA.  Available
in mid-March, the 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX models are part of the new Subaru
Driving Performance strategy.

in club and professional categories, therefore, this partnership is a natural
step for Subaru," said Subaru of America, Inc. Vice President of Marketing,
Bill Cyphers.  "We think enthusiasts will really respond to the world class
performance of the 2002 Impreza WRX, which elevates the Impreza performance
heritage to an all new level.  The SCCA provides a great opportunity for WRX
owners to experience their cars' capabilities, while pitting their skills
against other drivers."

    Testament to its all-weather, all-road capability, the All-Wheel Drive
Subaru Impreza is the reigning 2000 SCCA ProRally Production GT Champion.
Subaru Impreza models also secured victories in the 2000 Street Touring Class
at the SCCA Solo II Nationals, a Group N victory in the 2001 Sno*Drift SCCA
ProRally and is a popular choice among amateur racers competing in Solo II
competition, particularly the StreetTouring class.

    A World Class Performer

    The 2002 Subaru WRX, available as a sedan and Sport Wagon, is powered by a
2.0-liter, 227-horsepower turbocharged engine.  Inspired by the Subaru Impreza
World Rally Championship car, the All-Wheel Drive 2002 Impreza WRX models will
offer performance  in league with such respected all-wheel drive European
sport sedans as the Audi A4 Quattro and the BMW 325xi.
