Ingersoll-Rand's Club Car Unit Introduces the Pioneer Performance Utility Vehicle

    WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J.--Feb. 15, 2001--

Rugged Off-road Vehicle Especially Suited for Recreational, Agricultural and Construction Markets

Using Bobcat and Ingersoll-Rand Channels to
    Expand Market Opportunities

Ingersoll-Rand Company , a leading diversified industrial firm, announced today that its Club Car business unit has introduced the Pioneer utility vehicle, the company's new generation of rough-terrain Performance Utility Vehicles offering superior operation, versatility and a comfortable ride.
Designed to handle a wide variety of uses, the Pioneer line is especially suited for farms and ranches due to its power and hauling capacity, which ease crossing rough terrain, climbing hills and carrying heavy loads. Also, the Pioneer's smooth ride, comfortable, spacious seating and standard cargo box are well-matched for recreational duty, such as hunting and fishing. In addition, Pioneer offers reliable versatility on construction sites, where its tight turning radius allows it to haul lumber or tow a trailer through tight areas that a pickup truck can't get through.

Wide Distribution Through Club Car, Bobcat and Ingersoll-Rand Channels

In bringing Pioneer to market, Club Car is benefiting from the extended distribution network and customer access that other IR businesses provide. In particular, in addition to its own distribution channels, Club Car has teamed with IR's Bobcat Company and IR's Equipment Stores (IRES), the company's wholly owned construction equipment channel.
"Bobcat and IRES sell into different markets than Club Car, and we are excited about the cross-selling opportunities presented by this intracompany partnership," said Mont Miller, president and chief executive officer of Club Car. "The Bobcat and IRES organizations provide excellent growth platforms for the Pioneer utility vehicle, especially for the large, untapped recreational and agricultural markets."
The Pioneer marketing partnership reflects an IR concept known as "Dual Citizenship." Throughout the company, employees are encouraged to think and act beyond the scope of their primary responsibilities or business units. In this way, IR is able to share knowledge, best practices and capabilities, such as market access, across its diverse businesses, which ultimately results in improved operational and financial results.

About The Pioneer Line of Performance Utility Vehicles

Available in two models, the Pioneer line offers up to 15.3 cubic feet of cargo volume, an 11.4-inch ground clearance under-the-foot platform and a top speed of 19 miles per hour, making it one of the most adaptable utility vehicles available. The gasoline-engine powered vehicles feature rust-proof, corrosion-resistant, aluminum I-Beam chassis capable of carrying loads up to 900 or 1,200 pounds.
