NASCAR WCUP: Q & A with Bobby Hamilton, No. 55 Square D Chevrolet

Q: This is your first qualifying effort with the Square D Racing Team? What are your feelings about the position you secured for the Twin 125's?

A: I am pretty happy. I mean, we had a goal of being in the top-15 today and we made that. We had a good test here. Our goal was to qualify first round and everything laid according to plan. The motor man predicted about what we would run and the team discussed the position we wanted. We should have been about the same as the No. 33 car, but they were able to run a little more tape on the nose than us. That is just a difference in car bodies. We are so far along now that we can't backtrack and start cutting on them now. We are going to be fine. Everything was right on target for the Square D Racing team."

Q: Talk about your feelings of the comfort level you have in the car. Are there any changes you want to see the team make before the race on Thursday?

A: It is driving really well. When we unblock it and get our raceday setup , we will be able to tell more about it. In testing, they had a drafting session and by pulling the tape off of the car, we drafted fastest with this same qualifying motor under the hood. I feel comfortable with the setup. These guys have really worked hard to get us to this point. We have stepped over the learning curves of a new team working together. This year all of us are coming in hungry for a win.

Q: You are using the same motor for the twin 125's race. Tell us about your feelings for this setup.

A: They seem to be comfortable with it. I don't question what these guys put on this car. The setups are Jimmy's call. I think there were some questions from last year, but most were solved through the winter. Everything they have told me has been right at 100% in what I am supposed to expect. I am trusting of this team this year and am looking forward to a great race here in the Daytona.
