Subaru Vehicles Selected as IntelliChoice Best Overall Value

    CHICAGO, Feb. 8 IntelliChoice, today announced its
analysis for the 2001 model year and selected three Subaru vehicles for Best
Overall Value of the Year.  The Subaru Outback AWD 4-Door Wagon was
distinguished as "The Best Overall Value of the Year" in the "Midsize/Large
Wagon" category.  The Subaru Legacy L AWD 4-Door Wagon was distinguished as "A
Best Overall Value of the Year" in the "Midsize/Large Wagon" category.  In the
"Compact Over $16,500" category, the Subaru Outback Limited 4-Door Sedan was
named "A Best Overall Value of the Year."  The awards, now in their 15th year,
were announced today at the Chicago Auto Show.

    "Each year, IntelliChoice objectively evaluates the cost of ownership to
determine which vehicles offer the best value to consumers," said John

Subaru Outback Wagon, Legacy L and Subaru Outback Limited Wagon provide
consumers with outstanding overall value in their class."

    IntelliChoice analysis calculates and projects the costs over 5 years for
vehicle depreciation, insurance, maintenance, repair, fuel, state fees and
financing.  The winners are selected and announced each model-year as feature
of the annual publication of "The Complete Car Cost Guide(TM)" and "The
Complete Small Truck Cost Guide(TM)."
