Number Involved: 1,200

Defect: This recall involves certain boat trailers equipped with 14" and 15" Unique Pro Wheels. Due to paint on the wheel hub, the lug nuts were not tightened properly. The wheels could loosen during travel, resulting in the wheel stud breaking. The wheel could separate from the trailer, causing a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will remove all paint from the wheel hub, re-install the wheel, and re-torque the lug nuts. The manufacturer has reported that owner notification began Nov. 20, 2000. Owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact MasterCraft at 1-800-443-8774, ext. 197.
