GKN Appoints Two Executive Directors

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Jan. 23 Seifi Ghasemi, president and
chief executive officer of GKN Sinter Metals Division, has been appointed an
executive director of its parent company, GKN plc.
    Ghasemi, 56, has led GKN Sinter Metals, the world's leading producer of
powder metal components, since joining the UK-based GKN in 1998.  He was
previously a director of BOC plc.
    GKN also named Ian Griffiths, the chief executive of GKN's Automotive
Driveline Division, to be an executive director of the parent company.  The
division's North American headquarters is in Auburn Hills.
    Ghasemi will continue to be based at GKN Sinter Metals' global
headquarters in Auburn Hills, and Griffiths will remain at GKN's global
headquarters in London.  Both Ghasemi and Griffiths will report to Sir C.K.
Chow, GKN plc's chief executive.
    GKN Sinter Metals, which supplies powder metal components to the
automotive and other industries, employs 6,800 at more than 30 production
facilities in North and South America, Europe and Africa, and is involved in
joint ventures in India and China.
    GKN's Automotive Driveline Division is a global supplier of complete
driveline systems and components, with subsidiaries and associated companies
in 36 countries.
