TROY, Mich., Oct. 25 Delphi Automotive Systems
announced today that Karen Healy, vice president, corporate affairs and
facilities, has been named Michigan "Businesswoman of the Year" in the annual
contest sponsored by the Detroit News. Nominated by J.T. Battenberg III,
Delphi's chairman, CEO and president, the award recognizes outstanding career
achievement and business foresight.

"As a highly respected member of Delphi's leadership team, Karen brings
unique insights and a wealth of knowledge to the decision-making process,"
said Battenberg. "I've had the pleasure of working with Karen for the last 12
years and it's wonderful to see this public recognition of her achievements.
This honor rewards the tireless efforts that she and all of our employees have
made in moving Delphi forward as a progressive, technologically-advanced
company."
Healy's 24 years of experience in the automotive industry was instrumental
in the separation of Delphi from General Motors Corp. in 1999. Responsible
for all communications to employees, shareholders, the government, plant
communities, the media and other publics, Healy led the enormous
communications challenge with the goal of keeping it simple, approachable and
continuous. Her motto during the nine-month process was, "It's impossible to
communicate too much."
Healy was honored at an awards luncheon held in conjunction with the
fourth annual Women in Business conference at the Burton Manor in Livonia,
Mich., last week. Selected from a prestigious group of executive women, Healy
was chosen for her career accomplishments, work/life philosophy and civic,
charity and leadership roles.
Healy oversees all communications activities outside of marketing and
advertising, including media, employee and government relations for the
company. She is a member of the Delphi Strategy Board -- the company's top
policy-making group -- and is executive champion for the corporate affairs
task team. She is also chairman of the Delphi Foundation. In addition, Healy
is responsible for management of Delphi's facilities worldwide, overseeing
real estate, environmental activities and building maintenance and repair.
Healy serves on the Board of Trustees for the Music Hall Center for the
Performing Arts in Detroit, the Executive Board for the Troy Chamber of
Commerce, and the Board of Visitors for the Oakland University Business
School. Healy was recently selected as one of the "100 Leading Women in the
Automotive Industry" and was profiled in an issue of Automotive News in
September 2000.
A native of Detroit, Healy graduated from Michigan State University in
East Lansing, Mich., with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She resides in
Beverly Hills, Mich., with her husband, Tom, and their two children.
