While animation can add to any presentation, it universally appeals to children. While complex animation takes up more bandwidth than is currently practical on the Internet, simple animation is possible and it will help children feel comfortable and welcome.
The example above was simple to create and requires just a few frames. Because the QuickTime Plug-in is employed, the animation begins in just a few seconds even though the entire file has not been downloaded. It is important for any visitor to see results in as short a time as possible, but especially necessary when dealing with the shorter attention span of a child.
While our examples focus on the use of animation for children, do not forget the effect on adults. A short animated "teaser" can liven up any page.
The animation example above shows what you can do with QuickTime Plug-in on a white or colored background of the document. This example was done in Macromedia Director by Dr. Bijan Gillani, who is a professor at Cal State Hayward.
