BERTONE NIVOLA

The Bertone Nivola concept car combines distinctive Bertone styling with high technology to produce a
two-seater coupe powered by a Chevrolet ZR1 engine. The
name of the car comes from the nickname of the legendary racing driver of the 1930's and 1940's Tazio
Nuvolari, who customarily wore a yellow pullover when
racing. Bertone selected yellow as the Nivola's color based on this tradition.
This fully-functional prototype uses a rear-mounted ZF gearbox to provide an even weight distribution of
40% on the front axle and 60% on the rear axle. The
Corvette engine supplies enough power and torque to accelerate the Nivola from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3
seconds as compared to the 4.56 seconds required by the
Ferrari F40.
A unique hydropneumatic suspension system with an electronic command module keeps the car in the
correct driving trim and varies the ground clearance to adjust
for road conditions. The Nivola can be converted from a coupe to an open sports car by removing the roof
which can be stored in a recess above the engine
compartment.
