The ILSAC "Starburst" Symbol
This symbol on the front label means that the oil meets the new car warranty
requirements of virtually all domestic and Japanese automakers. Well over
90% of the new cars sold in America use oils displaying the "starburst".
Although the technical requirements to display this symbol will change to keep
up with new engine designs, the symbol itself will not change. This could cause
some confusion since two oils on the shelf can both display the "starburst" and
be of unequal performance. One could be representative of the latest ILSAC
standard and the other, representative of an outdated standard. Since Pennzoil
performance is always a step ahead of the latest ILSAC standards, you can
be sure you are getting the highest quality oil recommended by automakers
when you buy Pennzoil. If you are a new car owner, chances are your
owner's manual will show the "starburst" in reference to lubricant
recommendation.
