9. If the oil light on your vehicle's control panel comes on while driving, pull to the side of the road as quickly as possible, turn off the ignition, check your oil level, and - if necessary - have your vehicle towed in for service.
The oil light indicates that oil is not circulating in your engine. That's why, when you start your engine, it lights up briefly as the oil begins to circulate. If it lights up while you're driving and you continue to drive, your engine can be damaged.
