CAPTURING THE SPIRIT Klaus Berner (left), the creator of "Aeropede," shows off a model of the metal sculpture to Michael Summers of Troy, Michigan. The full-size sculpture, with a wingspan of eight feet, will be fully operational by visitors to the Automotive Hall of Fame, which opens August 16. Berner, of Pontiac, Michigan, is a precision machinist and artist with a bachelor's degree in psychology and master's degree in fine arts from Cranbrook Academy of Art. "Aeropede" is just one of many exhibits in the Automotive Hall of Fame, where interactive experiences and one-on-one demonstrations bring to life entertaining and enlightening stories about accomplished people.
