Lobby Display Personalizes
Automotive Hall of Fame Visit
DEARBORN, MI, July 7, 1997 -- The very contemporary looking Automotive Hall of Fame's bold architechture signals that this is not a traditional hall of fame or museum of static displays.
Upon entering, visitors realize that this a special place -- a people place -- and that they will not merely be looking at exhibits and viewing portraits of heroes. Instead, they will be drawn into the exhibits and into the lives of the dynamic individuals celebrated at the Automotive Hall of Fame.
"You will be involved," promises G. Donald Adams, Director of Marketing and Visitor Services.
"The mission of the new Automotive Hall of Fame is to celebrate accomplished individuals in the worldwide motor vehicle industry and to motivate and inspire our guests -- especially our young visitors -- to accomplish more in their work and lives.
"To that end, the Hall of Fame is filled with hands-on exhibits and interactive displays that require active participation," Adams says. "Our visitors will encounter the first such interactive exhibit in the lobby as soon as they enter."
With a lobby wall covered by silhouettes of people of all kinds as a background, visitors will participate in the Personality Profile Exhibit by taking a "quiz" on a subject they know well -- themselves.
"What kind of person are you?" Adams asks, in explaining the novel exhibit.
"Are you a problem solver who carefully analyzes problems and finds unique ways of solving them?
"Are you a pioneer who discovers new frontiers?
"Are you an innovator, finding new methods to use existing ideas to create something unique?
"Or are you a prime mover?
"Are you a creative spirit, a person who looks at life differently than most people?" he asks.
Visitors will select from among several categories the one that best describes them, then take a color-coded souvenir card and venture into the Hall of Fame. Throughout their visit, they will match the color of their card to the color on the exhibits featuring Inductees who share their personality traits.
"Each visitor's experience at the new Automotive Hall of Fame will be personal and unique," Adams says. "At the end of the exhibit, a Career Information Station will help guide them toward career paths they may wish to consider."
The new Automotive Hall of Fame is designed and built to be a visitor attraction
and educational resource. It celebrates accomplished people of the worldwide motor
vehicle industry for the purpose of inspiring others, especially young people, to higher
levels of achievement in their own work and lives. It is a unique "people place" of
innovation and inspiration where interactive experiences and one-on-one demonstrations are entertaining and enlightening.
