Free Admission Day for August 16
Grand Opening Celebration
Of New Automotive Hall of Fame

DEARBORN, MI, July 21, 1997 -- Grand Opening ceremonies for the new Automotive Hall of Fame in Dearborn are set for 11:15am, Saturday, August 16, and the doors will be opened to the public all day at a very attractive admission fee: abolutely free!
"We are celebrating our Grand Opening with a gift to our public -- a free first-time visit to Detroit's and the worldwide auto industry's newest visitor attraction," says Automotive Hall of Fame Chairman Ronald L. Cutter, Vice President, Marketing - Automotive, TRW. "This provides a perfect opportunity for families to 'test drive' our interactive exhibits and take part in our exciting Grand Opening Celebration."
Detroit's newest attraction is filled with things to see do, and visitors will be inspired by stories about people whose work changes our lives. Located next to Henry Ford Museum, the new $10-million Hall of Fame is a unique "people place" of innovation and inspiration where interactive experiences and one-on-one demonstrations are entertaining and enlightening.
The Hall of Fame is the only visitor attraction in the world that represents the global motor vehicle industry. Yet visitors do not have to be interested in cars and trucks to enjoy the experience, which is about people, not things. Real people behind names like Benz, Chevrolet, Crysler, Ford, Honda, Mack and Toyota and their accomplishments are revealed to visitors.
Free admission to the new Automotive Hall of Fame will follow the opening ceremonies and continue until the doors close at 7:00pm on August 16.
Subsequent admissions will be at regular rates: $6 for adults; $5.50 for seniors aged 62 and over, and $3 for youths.
The Automotive Hall of Fame's regular hours will be from 10:00am to 7:00pm seven days a week from Memorial Day weekend until October 31. Starting November 1 and running until Memorial Day weekend, the hours are 10:00am until 5:00pm Tuesdays through Sundays (closed Mondays). It is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's days.
The new Automotive Hall of Fame is designed and built to be a visitor attraction and educational resource. It celebrates accomplished people of the worldwide motor vehicle industry for the purpose of inspiring others, especially young people, to higher levels of achievement in their own work and lives.
The Automotive Hall of Fame is located adjacent to the Henry Ford Museum. For more information, please call us.
